The Art Museum of Singapore (SAM) is a leading art museums with the international standard museum facilities and programs in Southeast Asia. Dedicated to the collection and
display of 20th century Singapore and Southeast Asia modern and contemporary art, SAM joined a league of the new generation of museums throughout the world with well-executed exhibitions and community outreach. The Museum houses the national art collection of Singapore and has the largest collection in the 20th century Southeast Asia art by a public institution.
Less than a year after opening its doors in January 1996 to the restoration of the 19th century St Joseph 's institutional strengthening
on Bras Basah Road, Singapore Museum of Fine Arts has two components stagecomprehensive exhibition on themes inSoutheast Asian art and a century of art in Singapore.

In a relatively short period of time, the Museum has acquired a credibility
Standing with its international counterparts. Following its first
year of inception, the museum has allowed several international shows including Leonardo da Vinci: Scientist-Inventor-Artist, Tryst with Destiny: Art of independent India, German Art: years 1960 to 1970, The origins of modern art in France and, more recently, Monet to Moore: Millennium Gift of Sara Lee Corporation. These provide a framework and forum for art and development practices Southeast Asia.

Since its opening, the Museum 's permanent collection has increased
less than 2000 works of art over 4000, making it the largest
collection of 20th century Southeast Asia art in the region.
With imaging Selves, the Museum d 'first exhibition featuring
its permanent collection, the museum has also organized for countries
exhibitions, From There to Soul and now links: The Earth and its people, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The art of the region is given by the international exhibition of the Museum d 'exhibition program. Come 2000, Saturday will be the spearhead of its first touring exhibition on the art of South Asia, entitled Diobok-Obok at various locations worldwide.
Stimulating the Cultural Environment :
Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts in Singapore can expect to find an interactive, living art, at an advanced stage of the museum. Its 10,000-square metre ground includes 14 full climate-controlled galleries, an electronic E-mage who manages the gallery interactive programs featuring some of the Museum 's collection on a large video monitor, a library Reference, an auditorium, a multi - Purpose Hall, a shop, courses and a coffee together, ensure the quality of the experience for visitors.
Since its opening, the museum was to stimulate the cultural environment of Singapore and continues to do so with a watch and exciting programmes.
