As population of Maldives comprised of mainly Muslims, therefore, most of the festivals are Muslim based besides the national festivals of Maldives. The major festivals which are celebrated in Maldives are Ramadan – the holy month according to Islamic calendar, Eid-ul Al’h’aa, Prophet’s Birthday, Kuda Eid, Independence Day, Republic Day, National Day etc.
