Just 15 kilometres off the town of Jorhat, in the intrinsically Assamese village of Jalukonibari is the Thengal Mansion. This Mansion that is over 70 years old retains all the hauteur of the colonial plantation days and is yet ideally placed for an insightful and fascinating stay in a verdant village of Upper Assam that appears to have passed unchanging and unchanged into this century.
