Madame Tussauds Wax Museums

Madame Tussauds is an eminent wax museum in London with several braches in a number of popular cities. This world famous wax museum was established by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud and was previously known as “Madame Tussaud's”. However, the apostrophe from, the name has been deleted in recent times. The beautiful wax museum is an incredible tourist attraction in London, featuring waxworks of ancient and majestic figures, film starts, politicians, movie stars and too much surprise, known murderers.

The history behind this creative idea is very interesting. Marie Tussaud, was born on 1 December, 1761in Anna Maria Grosholtz in Strasbourg, France. Her mother was appointed as a housekeeper in Bern, Switzerland, under a physician, Dr. Philippe Curtius, who was skilled in preparing wax models. She learnt this beautiful art form from Dr. Philippe Curtius. In the year 1778, she made her first wax model of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. She has also created a model of her own, which is displayed at the opening of the museum.

Famous attraction of Madame Tussauds museum is the Chamber of Horrors, which is a part of exhibition housed victims of the French Revolution as well as recently created figures of murderers & other known criminals. Some other celebrated personalities added in the museum are Horatio Nelson and Sir Walter Scott. The museum initially sheltered about 400 different figures, but a fire incident in 1925, paired with German bombs in 1941, has destroyed most of the older models. The casts themselves have lasted, permitting the ancient waxworks to be recreated, which are seen in the history exhibit of the museum. The oldest figure exhibited in the museum is of Madame du Barry. Other popular figures from the ancient times are George III, Robespierre & Benjamin Franklin.

The best part about this amazing museum is that the figures are too identical to the real ones. The glamour section of Madame Tussauds grabs most of the attention. And why not, as it’s the most easiest and convenient way to meet your favorite movie stars in personal. Truly, the creativity of Madame Tussauds is one of its kinds. Madame Tussauds Wax Museum can also be explored in places like New York City, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dubai, Blackpool, Hong Kong, Hollywood, Jakarta, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Bangkok, Sydney, Vienna and Washington, D.C.
