Madame Tussauds is an eminent wax museum in London with several braches in a number of popular cities. This world famous wax museum was established by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud and was previously known as “Madame Tussaud's”. However, the apostrophe from, the name has been deleted in recent times. Marie Tussaud, was born on 1 December, 1761in Anna Maria
Grosholtz in Strasbourg, France. Her mother was appointed
as a housekeeper in Bern, Switzerland, under a physician,
Dr. Philippe Curtius, who was skilled in preparing wax
models. She learnt this beautiful art form from Dr. Philippe
Curtius. In the year 1778, she made her first wax model
of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. She has also created a model
of her own, which is displayed at the opening of the

The oldest figure exhibited in the museum is of Madame du Barry. Other popular figures from the ancient times are George III, Robespierre & Benjamin Franklin.
