Mahabaleshwar is a tourist destination and a municipal council in Satara District of Maharashtra. It is an attractive hill station placed in the Western Ghats. It was the summer capital of Mumbai (Bombay) Province during the rule of British Empire. The hill station is a tableland which is 150 sq km and is beleaguered by valleys on all sides.

Mahabaleshwar means ‘The God of Great Power’ in Sanskrit.
