The history of Nana Rao Park dates back to the first war of the independence period, fought in 1857. This park was named after Nana Rao Peshwa who fought like a brave warrior in the struggle for independence. The tragic incident of the bibighar massacre of Kanpur took place in this park.
The park is very well maintained and beautifully laid out, and appeals to all those visiting it. The trees, flowers in full bloom and a nice plant nursery fill up the atmosphere with a refreshing aura. Apart from the flora, a few fountains spread out here and there add to the beauty of the park.
