Albert Hall (Central Museum) Travel

A fabulous building, which displays Indo-Saracen style of architecture, Albert Hall is a prototype of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Colonel Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob had designed Albert museum and Edward VII laid its foundation stone in the year 1876. Situated in the midst of the verdant Ram Niwas Garden, The Albert Hall elegantly portraits the colourful village life of Rajasthan. It boasts of the rich cultural and historic heritage of the entire state. Valiant history of the Rajputs took a considerable part of the specimens of the Museum.

The museum now exhibits delicate assortment of metal ware, miniature portraits, decorative wares paintings, sculptures, an Egyptian mummy and natural history samplings among various other artifacts. The Durbar Hall is filled with numerous dazzling carpets including the outstanding Persian Garden Carpet, which is not exhibited for the public. Sculptures that are on display dates back to second, eighth and eighteenth century among which the turbaned lady and a stone Shiva are noteworthy. A horse skeleton, a stuffed cobra and a human skeleton also found in the Museum adds a special charm to its elegance. This museum plays as a host to many cultural feasts to prop up cultural events. Public are admitted to the Museum on all days except on Fridays between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
