Convent of Santa Monica and Chapel of Weeping Cross Travel

Numerous monuments and buildings constructed by the Portuguese lend a heritage look to Goa and some of the religious institutions, which have been preserved, are not only important due the influence they yield but also due to the exquisite architecture, which adorns their structure.

Holy Hill houses the Church and Convent of St. Monica. The Chapel and Convent were constructed in the year 1606 (work completion took 21 years). The royal monastery is actually a large multi-storeyed palatial house of laterite. The walls were originally plastered with lime. However, over a period of time, the lime has been replaced with cement.
