BRT Wildlife Sanctuary Travel

Sprawled across an area of 540 km, this place is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The Sanctuary is situated at the southern fringe of Karnataka and is to the east of the Western Ghats. The vegetation type includes the dry scrub, deciduous, savanna, evergreen, Shola forests and Grasslands. There are many endangered species residing in the place. The place is inhabited by the Soligans, a local tribe.

It was in 1972 that the place became a wildlife sanctuary. It was at this time that cutting down of trees, hunting and the shifting cultivation of the tribals was stopped.

Some of the animals you can spot here are Sloth Bear, Deer, Common Langur, Small Indian Civet, Clawless Otter, Indian Pangolin, Indian Porcupine, Blacknaped Hare and Indian Gerbille.
