Amritsar has the extremes of summers and winters. The temperature during summer seasons (April to June) soar to a peak of about 49°C and the winters (November to March) touch a freezing -4°C, the highest temperature going up to 18°C. The monsoons with mild to heavy showers, between July and November, are pleasant periods.
A visit coinciding with celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti (October – November) will be an experience with amusing celebrations and Bangara dances. Lohri festival is celebrated on January 13th annually is also a good attraction.
Best season for a pleasant weather and attractive celebrations is from October to March, perhaps excluding the chilly winter times of December and early January.
