Alibag entailing Garden of Ali, is a coastal town is settled in the Raigad district of the Konkan region. Alibag is a weekend picnic spot for the citizens of Mumbai. It is also a celebrated center for business conferences. Most of the people in the city own farms and cottages which are a few hundred meters from the sea shore. As Alibag is circumvented by sea on all 3 sides, it is known as Goa of Maharashtra.

The town and its bordering villages are the historic back-country of Bene Israeli Jews. Israel Ali is a Jewish tabernacle of the town. Shivaji’s naval head Kanhoji Angre developed Alibag in the 17th century. It is not only a sun city but also an astonishing weekend location. The city shot into excrescence after Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built the fort of Kulaba.

Alibag Beac
Alibag Beach is the primary beach of the town. The beach has the most calamitous sand of the region.
Brahma Kund
The Brahma Kund is a great work. It is on the hill top. There are two kunds the shiv pool and the Brahma’s pond. Brahma Kund is a rectangular tank which is encircled by steps on all the 4 sides. It is a very beautiful site. The site is excellent for photography.
Hanuman Temple
Shri Hanuman Temple is in the premises of the Kanakeshwar Devesthan temple. It is a small temple but the deity is very powerful.
Jai Bhavani Temple
Bhavani is a furious look of Hindu goddess Devi. Bhavani means "giver of life". She is the power of nature and the source of energy
Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple
The Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple is 13 km from Alibag. This is a very famous Shiva temple. The temple is on a 900 feet high hill. To get to the temple one has to climb a flight of 5000 well paved stairs. One forgets the tiredness as soon as one enters the temple premises
Kanakeshwar Forest
The Kanakeshwar Forest is a dense forest. Tourists are allowed to venture into the forest at their own risks.
Khanderi Fort
The Khanderi Fort is 3-4 km from Thai Beach. The fort was constructed in the year 1678. The Fort bears on a small island. A lighthouse was built later on. The fort was beneath the British control for a long time
Kihim Beach
The Kihim Beach is situated at a distance of 12 km from Alibag. It is a secluded place. The beach is famous for thick cover of coconut trees
Kolaba FortThe Kolaba Fort was constructed by Shivaji Maharaja. It is located 2 km inside the sea. Holidaymakers can make their holidays in the fort only during low tide.
Mandwa
Mandwa beach is located about 20 km north of Alibag. The ferry services can be utilized from Mumbai to the Mandawa jetty. Mandwa is a natural port. The place is famous for many Bollywood celebrities bungalows
Nagaon Beach
Around seven km away from Alibag is the unique Nagaon beach. It is famous for coconuts and betel nuts.

On the outskirts of Alibag is Versoli Beach. The beach is a quiet one. The sand on the beach is white and the sea water is clean and clear. The beach is not visited by many tourists. It houses a very large naval base.

The Vrindavan Farm is spread over a tremendous area of 28 acres. The farm is located near Kanakeshwar. All varieties of alien and everyday plants can be seen in this farm.
WHEN TO GO
Alibag is a tourist destination for all seasons. Cooler climate prevails during the winters from November to February; temperature reaches nearly 14°C during this season. Summers from March to July are warm with a maximum of 36°C. Monsoon season accompanied by frequent downpours are naturally very attractive here.

The nearest airport is of Mumbai, 113 km from Alibag. By taxi the travel costs about Rs 1500. Mumbai airport is well connected to all important cities in India and abroad
