Gandhi Ashram is popularly known as Sabarmati Ashram, one of the historical sites, founded by Mahatma Gandhi - the Father of the Nation.


This ashram is located about few kilometers away from Ahmedabad and it was constructed in the year 1917 AD. The Sabarmati Ashram is situated on the river banks of Sabarmati.


This Ashram is called by different names as Gandhi Ashram, or Harijan Ashram or Sabarmati Ashram. This noted ashram has two sides the prison is faced on one side whereas the other side faces the river. Quite a large group of holidaymakers visiting to Ahmedabad will never miss the opportunity to visit this ashram during their trip.
