At a distance of approximately 2 Km from the city of Agartala is situated the Venuban Vihar where a Buddha shrine contains a metal idol of Lord Buddha.

The idol was primitively created in Burma and was later transported to Venuban Vihar for installment into this shrine. The function of Buddha Poornima is yearly celebrated with full color and fervor. The solemnizations are followed by a large fair.

The ambiance inside the shrine is tranquil and that outside is that of expectation. Though the shrine is little in size the particular idol and surroundings attract hordes of religious groups and tourists.
